The nights are cold, the days are damp but nothing will stop our fantastic 2024 TCS London Marathon runners from their hours of training.

Blisters, blackened toe nails, sore feet and runners’ nipple – all things they have been contending with and then there are the miles and miles they have already been getting under their belts before they even step out on to the infamous 26.2-mile course.

Training is hard but they all have one thing in common, a wish to support Severn Hospice and the care we give to so many local people and their families who are living with incurable illness.

Over the years, our fabulous marathon runners have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for us while making amazing memories as they complete the gruelling race.

Grit

From the moment they hear they have been chosen to run for us, their grit and dedication to preparing and training for the iconic race is put to the test.

It is not just a case of weeks and months of fitting their training and running around work, family and other commitments, they also spend days and days organising fundraising events such as raffles, balls, quiz nights and auctions.

It is fair to say that even when they are not running, their every thought is about that certain day in April – the day they will have been building towards for more than six months.

Touched

All have been touched by our care – whether it is a parent, sibling, grandparent, uncle, aunt, child or friend: we have been there for them and their loved ones when they have faced heartbreak. And they have been in the news. Read the story of runner Verity here
