Being a Trustee

Our board of 12 trustees are guardians of the public trust in us, ensuring the hospice always serves its purpose of benefiting the community of Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales.

All are volunteers – but formally appointed and with legally binding responsibilities – and they make sure the hospice complies with the relevant laws and governance requirements of a charity.

Trustees will come from all walks of life and experience, all of which is applied to their role as a trustee.

Being a trustee is challenging, fascinating and fun – and a unique privilege and opportunity to be involved with something you can be passionate about.

Key skills and knowledge that are sought by us include:

· Current or past clinical experience

· Finance

· IT

· Retail, including online retail

· Social media

· HR

· Income generation

It is important the diversity of our board represents the communities we serve, too. We are also looking for people who understand how complex organisations work, and what they need to make them successful and sustainable.

You can find out more about us as an organisation on other pages in this section of the website.
