Clinical placements

We offer a range of opportunities to students and healthcare professionals who want to learn more about palliative care and end of life care.

We provide medical training and placements for specialist registrars, junior doctors from general practice and hospitals, and medical students (largely from Keele University, training in Shrewsbury).

We do have opportunities for overseas students and healthcare professionals who would like to gain more experience in palliative care. These opportunities would suit those with some experience who are looking to improve their skills.

Clinical student shadowing opportunities

If you are interested in learning more about what we do at Severn Hospice, we can organise a limited number of half or full day shadowing opportunities which will enable you to see a snapshot of the care and support we provide.

Clinical professional student placements

Placements can be organised by you or the university you attend.

These placements are for doctors, nurses and other allied healthcare professionals who would like to gain more knowledge on palliative and end of life care.

If you are over 18, you can apply for clinical student shadowing opportunities or clinical professional student placements

Please contact our education department for any more information or to discuss this further, you can do this by email education@severnhospice.org.uk or by calling 01743 236565.
