Immy is 11 years old and lives with her family in Bridgnorth. Her fundraising feat for us raised over £36,000 in memory of her mum and she was featured on BBC Breakfast telling presenters Louise Minchin and Charlie Stayt about her amazing efforts.

“Following a long battle with mouth cancer, my mum sadly passed away on June 21st 2020. She was an amazing mum and friend to me and my brother and sister.

“I wanted to do something to raise money for the amazing people at Severn Hospice in her memory as they made such a difference during the last few months of her life. My Dad and I decided that we would walk 874 miles – the distance from Lands End to John O Groats – over the course of 2021 in the hope of raising a minimum of £1,000 to give to the hospice to help them to keep giving the care that people so desperately need.

“My dad and my brother and sister joined me along the way. We went round and round Bridgnorth discovering parts we never knew. We had the best time. Sometimes I had to encourage dad saying, ‘Come on dad, just one more mile’.

“We told everyone that even the smallest amount would make such a difference and urged people to give as generously as you are able to.”

Immy’s mum, Kerry, was cared for by members of our Hospice at Home and Outreach teams who allowed the family to spend precious time together during Kerry’s final days.
