A former Pop Idol contestant is planning to add the X factor of success to our new superstore venture when it opens in Shrewsbury in September.

Castlefields resident Jodie Lucas, who appeared in the TV talent show’s premiere series alongside hopefuls Will Young and Gareth Gates, has been appointed as the manager of our first ever superstore with Jamie Tinsley as deputy manager.

Jodie, who was born in Shrewsbury and still has family locally, has worked in retail since starting on work experience in Debenhams, Telford, aged 14.

As well as managing other shops in Shrewsbury and the West Midlands since then, Jodie has worked in London, including on Bond Street aged just 17.

She said: “To work for a charity whose sole purpose is to help the community is something very new to me but such a rewarding thing to do, I can’t wait and I am delighted that Jamie has joined the team.

“Over the coming weeks we will be holding a number of events to meet the local community, recruit volunteers and hopefully get a few more donations ahead of the grand opening in September.”

As well as recruiting volunteers to lend a hand in our new superstore we are also on the look out for two part time retail assistants. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our award-winning retail team who were named Outstanding Charity Retailer of the Year 2018. For more information about our current vacancies click here
