Severn Hospice has been handed a £25,000 donation from a local healthcare charity, helping to ensure vital specialist care remains available for people living with incurable illness across the region.

We received the generous gift from the League of Friends of Ludlow Hospital in recognition of the care we provide to people across South Shropshire.

Representatives from our hospice visited Ludlow Hospital to receive the cheque from trustees of the League of Friends, whose support will help fund expert palliative and end of life care.

Tracie Harrison, our Director of Income Generation, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to the League of Friends of Ludlow Hospital for this wonderful donation. It was a real pleasure to meet with them and receive such a generous cheque.

“As a charity, we have to raise £2 for every £3 we spend providing our specialist care, so support like this makes a huge difference to us and the people we care for.

Every year we support around 3,000 patients and their families across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and North Powys.

“We are proud to support people in South Shropshire who need our care, alongside patients and families across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales, and that’s only possible because of the generosity of our community.”

The League of Friends of Ludlow Hospital supports healthcare and wellbeing initiatives that benefit people in Ludlow and the surrounding area, and chose to support us in recognition of the care we provide to patients from the South Shropshire community.

Michael Evans, a Trustee of the League of Friends of Ludlow Hospital, said: “Severn Hospice treats many patients from our community, both in their own homes and at the hospice itself. We are very pleased to be able to support this important work.

“The hospice relies so much on worthy charitable support, and we know how much its care is valued by families across Ludlow and South Shropshire.”
