Nurses are being invited to on-the-spot interviews at our first ever jobs days.

We’re encouraging those interested to come along anytime between 8am and 5pm to our sites at Apley Castle, Telford on 28 September and Bicton Heath, Shrewsbury on 29 September to meet the team and find out more about rewarding careers in nursing.

With a variety of clinical roles on offer on the wards and within the Hospice at Home community team, we’ll also be offering interviews on-the-day.

Top talent

Becky Richardson, Director of Care said: “We pride ourselves on the outstanding support and care we provide to those living with incurable illness and our specialist care requires skilled and compassionate practitioners. Our clinical teams have a passion for caring and we’re keen for more people to join us – both experienced clinicians and those newly qualified who want to build a solid foundation for their careers.

“At the moment we’ve got some exciting opportunities available to join our team. Anyone is welcome to come along and you don’t have to register or make an appointment – just drop in on the day. It’ll be relaxed and informal and you’ll get to meet some of our fantastic team and hear first-hand what it’s like to work here. I’d also encourage attendees to bring along your CV as we’ll be actively interviewing too.”

On-the-day interviews

As well as permanent positions for Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners and Healthcare Assistants there is also the opportunity to join our team of ‘bank’ nurses. In addition to being a flexible way to join the team it is an excellent way to experience working in a hospice environment.

Time to care

Zoe Thomas who originally began her in nursing career as a student with the Hospice in 2015 and is now Ward Manager said;

“The best thing about working here is that I have the time to be with my patients – we really do have the time to care and make real connections with both patients and their families.

“It is such a rewarding place to work and I really feel we make a difference. We have an ethos of helping patients to ‘live well’ with their illness for however long that may be.

“Here at Severn Hospice we are at the forefront of palliative care and we have fantastic opportunities to grow our general and specialist skills as well as develop our careers.

“If you’re actively seeking a new role or if you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to work at a hospice we’d love to see you. I’m really looking forward to meeting people on the day and sharing my experiences and bust some of those myths about hospice nursing. Some people may think this is a strange thing to say but this is the happiest and most positive place I have ever worked.”
