Organisers of a charity fundraising event are making last-minute preparations to ensure it is a night to remember.

Shimmer Walk returns on 25 April and the fundraising team at Severn Hospice is moving full steam ahead so that everything runs smoothly.

From bubble machines, twinkling lights and foam to candle lanterns for a moment of reflection, every detail has been carefully planned to create a memorable evening for participants.

Success

The first Shimmer Walk was held last year in Telford and was such a success that the charity decided to repeat it this year.

The walk starts at Charlton School in Wellington and participants will make their way to the nearby Apley Woods for fun and laughter before calling in at the charity’s hospice in Apley. There, they can spend a moment of reflection in the hospice’s beautiful gardens remembering those who have passed but who are never forgotten.

Excitement

Tickets for the 5k fundraiser have been selling fast and excitement is mounting ahead of the event.

Lizzy Ellis, from the charity fundraising team, said: “We really can’t wait to see everyone for this year’s Shimmer Walk. Last year’s event was so well received and so many of those taking part said how much they enjoyed it that we knew we had to hold it again.

Moving

“Seeing hundreds of people walking in memory of their loved ones is incredibly moving and shows just how important our care is.

“This care is only possible thanks to the generosity of our supporters. Last year’s event raised £30,000 and every minute we spend £19.97 on caring for local families both in the community and on our wards.

“Spaces are still available and the walk is suitable for all, including your four-legged friends! Everyone is welcome, so come along and help us make this the most memorable night.”
