Dozens of dogs of all shapes and sizes turned out to support our annual Fun Dog Show which took place on Saturday at Bicton.

Vying for the title of Best in Show were dogs from all over Shrewsbury and beyond including labs, daschunds, spaniels, wolf hounds, rescues and collie dogs all who passed under the nose of judges Richard Morris from Copthorne Vets and Philomena Nash from our finance deaprtment.

Sponsored once again by Copthorne Vets, the event was a showcase for some of the best pooches in the area and all while strengthening community connections.

Kay Britton, associate director of trading, said: “This year’s dog show was just paw-some! We held it for the first time in 2025, and we had such a fantastic response to it that we knew we had to do it all again.  

“Our stall holders, trade stands and spectators all made it an incredible event, and we are so grateful to them, and to Richard and Philomena for giving their time so generously and making it something really special.  

“We are huge dog lovers here at Severn Hospice, we welcome them on to our wards to visit patients and several of our staff bring their dogs into the office.

“Along with all our other events, our dog show not only raised vital funds for our care, it also raised awareness of what a hospice does and how we support our local community. It was wonderful to see so many people and their four-legged friends enjoying our award-winning gardens and visiting our hospice. Thanks to everyone who came along and made Dog Show 2026 one to remember.”  

As well as stands selling treats, clothing and food, there was an agility area where owners and their furry friends were put through their paces.  

Best in Show was won by Charlie, a four-year-old cocker spaniel from Copthorne in Shrewsbury.

His proud owner Pat Evans said: “It was great to hear our names called out as winners of Best in Show and it was a really lovely surprise. I came along as I wanted to support the hospice. We came last year when there was torrential rain, so the weather was absolutely perfect today. It was a good day out and it is nice to support such a good cause.”
