Town of Flowers Community Award 2016 - Volunteers with Mayor WEBOur gardens at our Shrewsbury hospice have scooped another award. The Town of Flowers Community Award recognises the difference volunteer groups make in the local community.

The Mayor of Shrewsbury, Cllr Miles Kenny, visited our hospice in Bicton Heath earlier this week to present the award.  He congratulated the team and acknowledged the great deal of work that goes into maintaining the gardens to such a high standard.

During their visit the Mayor and Mayoress enjoyed a tour of our Shrewsbury hospice and learned more about the vital services we provide across Shropshire and Mid Wales.

Chris Watkins, one of our Lead Gardeners, said: “We are delighted that the Mayor and Mayoress were able to take time out of their busy schedule to visit our hospice.

“It is a real honour to receive such an award. A great deal of hard work and effort goes into our gardens to ensure they look their best for our patients. It is testament to our dedicated team of volunteer gardeners that we have received such a prestigious award, without their support it just wouldn’t be possible.”

In April we will be offering supporters the opportunity to explore these award-winning gardens in Shrewsbury when we open our 13 acre site to members of the public for our Open Garden event. For more information about our Open Gardens please click here.
