Dogs old and young, big and small will be guests of honour at our charity dog show next month. 

Severn Hospice is hosting its second annual dog show on September 5 at its site in Shrewsbury, and all are welcome. 

There will be fun for all the family, including four-legged friends, with an agility course, showring and stalls selling all sorts of canine goodies alongside a BBQ serving burgers, hot dogs and other human-friendly treats throughout the day.

Kay Britton, our Associate Director of Trading, said: “We held our first dog show last year, and despite the torrential rain everybody had an incredible time, so we knew we had to do it all again.  

“Paws crossed the weather will be kinder to us, but we can be sure of one thing. This will be a fun day out, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to our hospice in Bicton.

“We are delighted that the show will again be sponsored by Copthorne Vets, and their lead vet Richard Morris will also be one of our judges. So, if your dog has the waggiest tail, can perform the perfect trick or is just an incredibly handsome hound, and you are snout and about on September 5, bring them along.” 

The event runs from 10am-4pm with judging from 1pm-3pm. Entrance is free, and it costs £3 to enter each class.

“Everyone who comes along to the dog show will be supporting our care,” added Kay. “It costs us £19.97 every minute of every day to care for local people living with incurable illness. We cannot do this without our wonderful supporters – they enable us to provide the compassionate and dignified care we are known for.  

“We are huge dog lovers and we often have dogs to visit our wards. Our staff bring their own dogs in on a regular basis, and our head gardener’s spaniel pup Dilly was a cover star on our yearly newsletter. By coming along to our dog show, our supporters will be giving us the gift of care, and we can’t thank them enough.”
