New volunteers and an assistant shop manager are being sought after our Oswestry shop started a new chapter following an extensive refurbishment.

The popular store closed its doors at the beginning of September to undergo a host of work to improve the shopping experience and allow for even more donations to be made.

Now the doors of the English Walls shop have reopened as shoppers were invited back for the official reopening on Thursday, 25 October.

Deputy Mayor John Price, Town Crier Phil Brown, our nurses Linda Crockett and Helen Pretty as well as customers, staff and volunteers were at hand for the official ribbon cutting to unveil the new-look store from 10am.

Dozens of eager shoppers flooded through the doors of the store to check out the transformation and browse for bargains.

Area Shop Manager, Annette Wallis, said: “We’re delighted to be able to reopen the shop doors to the people of Oswestry after being closed for nearly six weeks.

“The team have all been working hard so the new-look shop is ready for our loyal supporters on Thursday. Over the years they have helped us raise over £1 million since we opened in 1988.

“The refurbishment has made the shop much easier for our volunteer team and we hope it will mean more items can be accepted and sold.

“We wouldn’t be able fund our vital care to patients each year if it wasn’t for the generous shoppers coming in to spend their money and donate their unwanted items.”

The Oswestry store is the latest of our award-winning shops to undergo a planned refurb for shoppers and donors.

It will be the first to sport the new-look colour scheme.

The backroom of the shop has also been upgraded, allowing staff and volunteers to cope with a significantly higher amount of donations.

The Assistant Community Shop Manager will help support the Shop Manager three days a week to generate the cash needed to support thousands of families living with an incurable illness.

And with the refurb providing extra space for donations, the store is appealing for more people to pop in-store and enquire about volunteering for the team.

The shop is located at 12 English Walls, Oswestry, SY11 2PA. Opposite the shop there is a large public car park where you can park for up to two hours for £1.
