The friends and family of a Telford woman say they will be ‘walking in her footsteps’ when they take part in a ladies-only charity walk next week.

Jo Pearce, from Muxton, died at the age of 37 after losing her battle with breast cancer at the end of 2017.

The mother-of-one’s friends and family have taken on a series of fundraising challenges to support the hospice in her memory.

From the London Marathon to a giant inflatable obstacle course – their next event will be our Cinderella Midnight Walk in Telford on Saturday 12 May.

Michaela Hesbrook, a friend of Jo, said: “As a group of friends we started raising money for the hospice as a way of giving something back in recognition of the care and support Jo received. Before she died Jo would regularly join us for our latest fundraising endeavour. Now she is no longer with us we wanted to follow in her footsteps and continue to raise money for the hospice in Jo’s memory. So far Claire has taken on the London Marathon, Donna has completed the Stafford Half Marathon and giant inflatable obstacle course.

“She would be really thrilled with what we have managed to achieve so far and we know she will be with us in spirit for the Cinderella Midnight Walk. We all miss her terribly but we are proud to be continuing her legacy and we hope by doing so other people like Jo will benefit from the loving care the hospice provides.”

Hannah Gamston, fundraising events officer at Severn Hospice said: “What Michaela and the team have set out to achieve in Jo’s memory is impressive and we are truly grateful to them for all their hard work.

“We are thrilled they will be joining us for our 9km ladies-only Cinderella Midnight Walk in Telford. It’s always very moving to see hundreds of women come together to show their support for our hospice.

“There’s still time to register if anyone would like to join us and become a princess for the evening. Keeping with the Cinderella theme the walk will start at 10pm and we are encouraging all those taking part to be back by midnight to avoid turning into a pumpkin.”

Registration for the Cinderella Midnight Walk cost £15 per person and commemorative t-shirts are available for an additional £5. Ladies are being encouraged to sign up before registration closes on Monday 7 May.

Michaela, Claire and Donna will be helping out at the bi-annual Muxton coffee morning on Saturday 5 May. Why join them at St John’s Church Community Centre in Muxton between 10am and 12.30pm to out find out more about their fundraising efforts.
