Severn Hospice has a network of 27 award-winning shops across Shropshire and Mid Wales that generate around £1 million a year to help fund the care we provide.
Each shop has a dedicated team of hardworking staff and volunteers that strive to make a difference in their local community.
Paul Lloyd is one of more than 750 retail volunteers giving up their time to help money to fund care for families living with incurable illnesses.
His role in the Furniture Store in Shrewsbury is flexible and his tasks differ from repairing furniture and setting out displays to helping customers and van delivery/collection.
“The hospice supported several members of my wife’s family and friends and this is the main reason I wanted to give something back,” said Paul.
“I have no money issues and as such feel I want to offer something back to my town. I wanted to have a role which was physical so the furniture store fits this well.
“Almost everyone living locally knows someone who has been supported by the hospice at some point and without exception it is applauded for its end of life care.
“If I can help fund this, it is a very small price to pay.”
There are a host of volunteering opportunities to join our retail team available, some of which include: office-based volunteers who work alongside our retail team to help with various admin roles like processing Gift Aid and specialist retail volunteers who identify items which may be valuable or of special interest to our supporters.
