Loved ones left in limbo as one in two adults in the UK die without making a will, according to new research.
In a bid to get more people to make a will we have joined forces with legal eagles Clarkes Solicitors, Hatchers Solicitors and mfg Solicitors for our will writing initiative.
Under the scheme each firm of solicitors is waiving their fees for writing simple wills in lieu of donation to our hospice.
Elodie Home, legacy and memoriam advisor at Severn Hospice, said: “Hundreds of thousands of people die each year without leaving a will making a difficult time even harder to deal with for their families, especially if you’re not married or in a civil partnership.
“Many people might not realise that there are strict laws regarding how a person’s estate is distributed when they die if they have not left a will irrespective of their wishes.
“By making a will it doesn’t mean bringing the inevitable closer but it does mean your loved ones receive the gifts you want them to and your wishes are documented.
“Anyone taking up our will-making offer will be helping us straight away and they are under no further obligation to us. The arrangements in their will remain completely confidential between them and their solicitor.
“We are delighted to be working with all three firms and would like to thank them for their generous offer to waive their fees.”
