The Hospital Palliative Care Team comprises three Clinical Nurse Specialists, two are based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and one based at Princess Royal Hospital.   One nurse from each site is part funded by Severn Hospice.   Dr Jeremy Johnson is the Medical Director of Severn Hospice with an honorary Consultant position within the Trust.

The Hospital Palliative Care Team provides specialist advanced nursing practice across the primary and secondary care interface.

The team is available between the hours of 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.   All disciplines are able to make referrals to the team.

Following the merger of Princess Royal and Royal Shrewsbury Hospitals, the palliative care team are working closely together, cross covering during periods of annual leave.   This is resulting in a more cohesive standardised working practice in both hospitals.
